NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin State University's Lumberjack Cultural Association and Office of Multicultural Affairs will launch the annual Diversity Week with the theme "All Shades" beginning Monday, April 1.

"The OMA and Lumberjack Cultural Association strive to unite the SFA community through this event," said Jalon Berry, assistant director of the OMA. "Throughout the week, we will host educational events that celebrate and promote diversity, multiculturalism, social justice, equality and inclusion."

The events include:

All Shades of Disabilities

The All Shades of Disabilities event will take place at 3 p.m. Monday, April 1, at the HPE Complex on the SFA campus. Students will participate in a series of activities that will give them insight as to how individuals who have disabilities navigate through their lives.

All Shades of Brown

The Lumberjack Cultural Association's All Shades of Brown event will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Baker Pattillo Student Center. Individuals will have the opportunity to listen to a panel discussion and workshop with panelists. This is a safe forum to discuss issues pertaining to the struggles of people of color.

All Shades of Privilege

This event is designed to encourage SFA students to acknowledge the advantages they have in society because of their various backgrounds and characteristics. Students can engage in this discussion at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, at the student center plaza.

Diversity Week Festival

The event begins at 4 p.m. Friday, April 5, in the student center plaza and showcases many cultural organizations with free food, giveaways, activities and entertainment.

The Office of Multicultural Affairs is sponsoring two additional events during the week: The Diversity Poetry Slam at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in the student center theater and the Any-Body Can Dance event at 6 p.m. in the student center grand ballroom.
