Austin State University.

The FlexLessons offered by the division enable students to sign up for either four, six of eight private lessons in piano, voice, guitar, harp, percussion, Suzuki and traditional violin, viola, cello, bass, and other instruments as requested, explained Pat Barnett, division director. "We recognize that families' summer schedules are full, so we offer a variety of flexible options between the June 1 and Aug. 15."

Students in second through sixth grade can explore musical theater while enrolled in "Curtain Call," a Music Discovery Camp which will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday, Aug. 3, through Friday, Aug. 7. Under the direction of instructor Jennifer Weems, students will write their own musical and perform it at the end of camp for family and friends. The $65 tuition covers supplies. Registration deadline is Tuesday, July 28.

Parents of newborns through 7-year-olds may enroll their children in Kindermusik Adventure Camps in either of two locations, St. Cyprian's Episcopal School in Lufkin and the Wright Music Building on the SFA campus.

Karen Greer, certified Kindermusik instructor, will teach the Lufkin classes on Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26. "Peek-A-Boo, I Love You!," for newborns to 18-month-olds and their caregivers will meet from 9 to 9:45; "Creatures in My Backyard," for children 18 months to 3 years, will meet from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; "On the Road Again," for 3- to 4-year-olds, will meet from 1 to 2 p.m.; and "Around the World," for 5-to 7-year-olds, will meet from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuition for the camps is $75, $100, $110 and $120, respectively.
