SFA Music Preparatory Division recitals scheduled

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music will present a series of recitals Thursday, April 30, through Saturday, May 16. The recitals, which provide an opportunity to showcase the talents and accomplishments of the students enrolled in the various programs, are free and open to the public.
Harp students of Mollie Marcuson will perform at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the Music Recital Hall, Room 160 of the Wright Music Building located at 2210 Alumni Dr. on the SFA campus.
On Saturday, May 9, piano students of Linda Parr will present their recital at 2 p.m., and Dr. Ping-Ting Lan's students will perform at 4 p.m. Both recitals are in Cole Concert Hall of the Wright Music Building.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, students of Ashley Clark (flute), Amy Bennett (oboe), Andrea Slate (horn), Megan McIntire and Brandon Pierce (violin), Richard Leppert (viola), Lacie Carpenter (fiddle), Max Wilson (bass), Mike Craft (percussion), and piano students of Amy Frenzel, Meghan Kelly, Hyera Kim, Brandon Pierce, Bethany Rasmussen and Missy White will perform in Cole Concert Hall.
On the same day, Mary Cooper's piano students will present their recital at 4 p.m. in the same venue.
Two separate recitals will be presented on Monday, May 11, in the Music Recital Hall. Students of Dr. Marion Ajero's piano pedagogy students--Jennifer Chang, Emily Kebodeaux, Meghan Kelly, Heather Newman, Chris Schoppe, Matthew Webb and Missy White--will perform at 6 p.m. Voice students of Dr. Deborah Dalton, Dr. Scott LaGraff and Jill Malone will sing at 7:30 p.m.
Students of Dr. Jennifer Dalmas (violin), Dr. Evgeni Raychev (cello) and Alan Scott (classical guitar) will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 12 in the Music Recital Hall.
The Piney Woods Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Raychev and Dalmas will present its spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at First United Methodist Church. Included on the program is organist Andrew Parr, SFA professor of music, performing G.F. Handel's "Organ Concerto No. 10 Op. 7, No. 4."
Each Suzuki violin student of Brenda Josephsen will perform in the Music Recital Hall in either the 7 p.m. recital on Friday, May 15, or at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.
The Music Preparatory Division has been offering musicianship classes and private instruction for East Texas students for over 25 years. It is a member of the National Guild of Community Schools of the Arts.
