Argentinean trombone quartet to perform at SFA

The Viento Sur Trombone Quartet of Argentina will present a free recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in Cole Concert Hall on the campus of Stephen F. Austin State University.

NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present the Viento Sur Trombone Quartet from Buenos Aires, Argentina, in a guest artist recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, in Cole Concert Hall.

The world-renowned ensemble will present a program of music primarily from their native Argentina, including adaptations of tangos and milongas. The concert is one stop on a tour the group is making through Oklahoma, Texas and Florida.

"We are pleased to bring this talented and innovative group to Nacogdoches," said Dr. Deb Scott, SFA assistant professor of trombone. "They have performed at the International Trombone Festival and are the artists-in-residence at 'Trombonanza,' an international trombone festival held in Santa Fe since 2001."
