January 6, 2010
Families work together to learn about camping cook-stove options.
An event at Stephen F. Austin State University's Pineywoods Native Plant Center on Jan. 9 will offer visitors an opportunity to cook a delicious camp-stove breakfast, learn about fire safety, and contribute to a bottomland hardwood wetlands restoration project by planting trees along the trails near the center. John Boyette of the Texas Forest Service will demonstrate a variety of camping cook-stove options and discuss fire safety. Families and staff will work together to create a hearty outdoor breakfast before heading out to plant trees in the bottomlands of the Native Plant Center. The program will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at 2900 Raguet St. For more information, call (936) 468-1832.
