Kerrie Forrester was hired Tuesday by Henderson Independent School District trustees to serve as communications officer and executive director of the HISD Education Foundation.

Forrester comes to HISD from Henderson's First Baptist Church where she has served as children's minister and director of FBC Preschool.

A 1986 graduate of Henderson High School, Forrester earned her degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and began teaching at HISD in 1991. She continued as a classroom teacher and reading specialist through 1999 before leaving for First Baptist.

At HISD, Forrester will be filling two roles. As communications officer, she replaces Stacey Sullivan, who was named director of human resources in December following the retirement of Mary Beth Fitzgerald.

Forrester will also assume duties formerly held by Fitzgerald with HISD's Education Foundation, which awards scholarships to graduating HHS seniors and makes grants for projects within the district.

During Tuesday's meeting, trustees also approved extending contracts for the following HISD administrators and principals:

Otis Amy, Cindy Anderson, Debra Brown, Kim Buckner, Dr. Raylene Conner, Richard Cooper, April Cox, Kathy Deason, Hardy Dotson and Treena Foster;

Also, LeNora Foy, Clay Freeman, Craig Hurt, Kerrie Jennings, Dickey Meeks, Veloria Miles, Bill Stanley, Stacey Sullivan, Dannis Tamplin and Wade Watson.

Four administrators hired last year on one-year probationary contracts had their agreements extended to two years: Terry Everitt, Dea Henry, Carlette Mills and Jaculyn Zigtema.
