Possible options available with a language first or second major include, but are not limited to:
Teaching: all languages, in particular bilingual English/ Spanish teachers
Government: foreign service officer (diplomacy), immigra- tion officer, law enforcement, Peace Corps volunteer, social worker or counselor
Interpreting and translating: both for public entities (courts, state and national government offices) and private (banks, businesses that import or export goods or services, hotels, airlines)
International business: positions in international marketing and trade
Many positions in other fields require language expertise or give preferential hiring to people with advanced language skills. Positions include, but are not limited to, airline reservation or general travel agent, banking correspondent, commercial representative, editorial assistant, export manager, production manager, project analyst, restaurant manager, telephone operator, and therapist.
