NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - Parents of newborns through 7-year-olds can register their children for the Kindermusik Adventure Camps to be offered through the Music Preparatory Division of the Stephen F. Austin State University School of Music Monday, Aug. 2, through Friday, Aug. 6. Registration deadline for the four age-appropriate sessions is Wednesday, July 21.
"Each of the camps uses music, stories and activities to inspire a lifetime of learning in the young participants," explained Pat Barnett, director of the Music Preparatory Division. "Our trusted Kindermusik educator Karen Greer will guide the classes through each research-proven and giggle-approved activity. Plus, each registrant receives take-home materials for continued enrichment and enjoyment."
"Oh, What Busy Days," designed for newborns through 18-month-olds and their caregivers, will be offered from 9 to 9:45 each morning. Each lesson features new activities and songs for all the places the baby goes-the store, playground, doctor's office, and more. Cost is $75.
In "Creatures at the Ocean," 18-month- to 3-year-olds and their caregivers will sing sailor songs, play counting games, make homemade kites and "fish" sandwiches using fish-shaped bread, peanut butter and jelly. The camp meets from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuition is $100.
Three- to 4-year-olds can participate in "Confetti Days" where they'll have a different party each day from 1 to 2 p.m. The children will learn colors, play musical move and freeze, walk on a web of ropes and sing songs. Cost is $110.
Through storytelling, 5- to 7-year-olds will develop an early awareness of rhythm, movement, singing and drama in "Tell Me a Tale" from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Each lesson features a new tale from around the world, explored through multi-instrument and multicultural elements. Tuition is $120.
All sessions will meet in the Tom and Peggy Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr. on the SFA campus.
