January 18, 2011 - Public Affairs
SFA professor Dr. Leon Young collects a soil sample core from a landscape for soil testing at the SFASU Soil Plant & Water Analysis Lab. Dr. Young will present a program on soil testing and using limestone and fertilizers in gardens and lawns. Emphasis will be on liming materials.

A successful garden begins with good soil. SFA agriculture professor Dr. Leon Young will present Soils in Your Garden on February 3 from 6:30-8:30 pm in room 110 of the Agriculture Building on Wilson Drive. Dr. Young, aka Dr. Red Dirt, will discuss the basics of soil-pH, use of lime, fertilization and soil testing. Dr. Young encourages participants to bring their soil questions for a question/answer and problem-solving session at the close of the presentation. Cost is $5.00 per person.
