Graduates of the program will have the credentials to be successful in many positions in governmental or nonprofit organizations. Most governmental positions are in state or local government. In addition, graduates of our program have obtained positions in the private sector.
Public administration faculty members maintain contact with government employees at local, regional, state, and national levels. Students are provided with assistance when they seek employment or admission to graduate school.
Career opportunities are enhanced through the program's internship emphasis. Public administration internships are part-time professional work in public organizations. Interns receive meaningful work experience as undergraduate students and can receive variable course credit from one to six hours. Some internships are paid. The internships taken if a fall or spring semester often are located within the City of Nacogdoches or within short driving distance. During the summer semesters, internships may be located throughout the State of Texas when students are not taking other classes at the university.
