SFA and The Arbor gather donations to help children in need

The collaboration is part of a service-learning project for students in Dr. J.B. Watson's class in which students are learning about intergenerational relationships. Students work with The Arbor residents to obtain donations for the Rainbow Room, which serves families in need of basic necessities during Child Protective Services cases.
Shirley Bailey, one of the residents at The Arbor and one of the founders of the Rainbow Room, is proud to see something she was involved with from the beginning grow into a helpful resource for Nacogdoches families.
"We wanted to help the people who need it the most," Bailey said. "They have a wonderful set-up there."
The Rainbow Room is in need of: diapers, baby formula, children's underwear and clothing (any size), personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies, fans, car seats, or strollers. Cash donations also will be accepted.
Donations will be accepted through Friday, May 4, at The Arbor, located at 3002 Westward Drive in Nacogdoches, or at the Brophy Center located in Mays Hall, Room 104 on the SFA campus. For more information, call Watson at (936) 468-4405 or e-mail jwatson@sfasu.edu.
