Clear-bag policy in effect for SFA's Battle of the Piney Woods at NRG Stadium

September 29, 2016
As the Stephen F. Austin State University Lumberjack football team prepares for the Battle of the Piney Woods Saturday, Oct. 1, at NRG Stadium in Houston, it is important that fans also take preparatory steps to ensure they are in compliance with new rules governing the types of purses and bags that may be brought into the stadium.

In May, the NFL Committee on Stadium Security unanimously recommended the implementation of a policy that puts limits on the size and types of bags that may be brought into stadiums. NRG Stadium, home of the NFL's Houston Texans, is among the stadiums affected by this new policy.

According to Lone Star Sports & Entertainment, a third-party event marketing company affiliated with the Houston Texans, the policy is being implemented to provide a safer environment for the public and significantly expedite fan entry into the stadium.

LSSE strongly encourages fans to refrain from bringing any type of bag into the stadium, but it has outlined the following bags as permissible to carry in to stadium plaza areas, stadium gates and/or when approaching queue lines of fans awaiting entry:

Prohibited items include, but are not limited to, purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, non-approved cushions, luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags, or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Lumberjack fans are reminded that in order to further expedite the process of entering the stadium, please leave all unnecessary items in your vehicles or at home and have items open for search before approaching the gate. Items not permitted into the stadium must be returned to your vehicle or discarded. Staff may not store or hold items.

Fans are reminded that all bags are subject to inspection.
