NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University College of Fine Arts and School of Music will present two guest artist recitals in Cole Concert Hall during the final week of September.

The Dallas Saxophone Quartet, composed of four SFA alumni, will perform at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, and guest tubist Angelo Manzo will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30. Both recitals are free and open to the public.

The Dallas Saxophone Quartet's repertoire consists of music on the "lighter" side, according to Brian Utley, SFA associate professor of saxophone. "They perform lots of arrangements of jazz standards, transcriptions of music originally for band such as 'Stars and Stripes Forever," and arrangements of well known classical music such as Mozart's 'Eine Kleine Nacthmusik.' The concert will certainly appeal to all audiences."

Group members are Cody Schwartz, soprano and lead alto saxophone; Frank Wilbanks, alto saxophone; Roger Ashcraft, tenor saxophone; and Kevin Hamilton, baritone saxophone.

Tubist Angelo Manzo and pianist Peter Miyamoto, both members of the music faculty at the University of Missouri, will perform several works for tuba and piano, including "Concerto" by Alexander Arutiunian, "Allegro Fuoco" by Roland Szentpali and "Chant" by Brian Kehlenbach.

Cole Concert Hall is located in the Wright Music Building, 2210 Alumni Dr. For more information, please call (936) 468-6407 or (888) 240-ARTS.
