NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS -The Stephen F. Austin State University School of Theatre will present a student-directed production of Luigi Pirandello's "The Other Son" at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25. All performances are in the Downstage Theatre located on the first floor of the Griffith Fine Arts Building.

Set in post World War I Sicily, where men are leaving for South America and abandoning their families, the one-act play follows the story of a woman stricken with grief from the abandonment by her own sons and her rejection of her third son who remains, explained Copperas Cove senior Miguel Maymi, the play's director.

The play is recommended for mature audiences.

Plano senior Allison Ostrander plays the mother, Maragrazia, and Lancaster junior Lamar Jefferson plays her third son, Rocco. Other principal cast members are Wink senior Erin Whitmire and British exchange student George Boullin.

Previously at SFA, Maymi has served as assistant director for "The Adventures of Homer McGundy, Revised" and "Woyzeck" and directed "A Life with No Joy in It." He is currently the assistant director of the School of Theatre's musical comedy-cabaret troupe, The Original Cast, and will be the scenic designer for the student production of "Old Saybrook" later this semester.
