NACOGDOCHES, TEXAS - The Stephen F. Austin State University's School of Music and the Cole Performing Arts Series will present the Oberon Ensemble at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Cole Concert Hall on the SFA campus.

Oberon is a quintet consisting of first chair players from the Houston Ballet, Opera and Symphony, and includes Colleen Matheu Johnson, flute; Kurt Johnson, violin; Rene Salazar, viola; Barrett Sills, cello; and features SFA faculty member Emily Mitchell, harp.

Among the featured pieces are Serenade No. 10, Op. 79 for Flute and Harp by Vincent Persichetti; Serenade in C, Op. 10 for String Trio by Ernst Dohnanyi; and Concert A Cinq , Op. 71 by Joseph Jongen.

Mitchell has worldwide recognition as a concerto soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. She has been profiled on "The Today Show," "Good Morning America," CNN, CNBC, the BBC, People magazine and other media outlets. She has performed in Carnegie Hall, before British royalty and before First Lady Rosalyn Carter at The White House.

Colleen Matheu Johnson is the principal piccoloist of the Houston Ballet Orchestra. Violinist Kurt Johnson is currently in his 10th season as a member of the Houston Symphony. Salazar has served as principal viola with the Houston Grand Opera and Houston Ballet Orchestra since 2003. A prizewinner in competitions in Germany, France and Brazil, Sills is a recognized artist on Baroque cello, viola da gamba and modern cello.
