The Greater Texas Foundation recently awarded SFA $20,000 to continue its “Removing Educational Barriers Scholarship” program. SFA has agreed to match this gift. The Foundation has requested the funds be distributed to students with financial need.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Academic Assistance and Resource Center (AARC) team who were awarded the prestigious STAR award on November 6, 2006.

The Texas Higher Education Star Award, established by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, recognizes higher education institutions, organizations, groups, and individuals for their exceptional contributions toward one or more of the goals of Closing the Gaps by 2015, the Texas higher education plan adopted by the Coordinating Board in October 2000. The plan establishes four goals – to close the gaps in student participation, to close the gaps in student success, to close the gaps in academic excellence, and to close the gaps in research efforts.

THE Star Award
In addition to a custom-designed award, recipients receive public recognition for their efforts to develop and implement the state’s most successful higher education programs, projects, and activities.

CONGRATULATIONS to Shannon Bailey, Director of the SFA Art Gallery, who was awarded an Arts and Cultural Panel Grant of $2,192 from the Texas Commission of the Arts.
