Welcome to Geospatial Science

The SFA geospatial science program draws from cartography, surveying, hydrography, forestry, chemistry and even sociology and anthropology. Our technology-focused approach gives students the hands-on experience with advanced hardware and software that attracts top employers.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in geospatial science are required to select a track from the options below.

Lumberjack Spotlight

  • As GIS supervisor for West Safety Services, Charles Van Hoose is responsible for the deployment and support of web mapping products used by first responders to save lives across the country. He says his SFA degree in spatial science has given him with the opportunity to travel the nation and collaborate with other professionals in the field.

  • Emily Lozano

    Emily Lozano

    Emily is using her geospatial science degree to serve Nacogdoches County as a GIS intern. She performs field data collection, map production and updates vector GIS datasets used by 911 dispatchers.

  • Reid Viegut

    Reid Viegut

    Reid utilizes his minor in geospatial science to advance natural resource management. He has co-authored two papers with faculty members. He hopes to use his experience with unmanned aerial vehicles for conservation.

  • Keaton Ford

    Keaton Ford

    Through his focus in land surveying, Keaton Ford is paving a path to become a registered professional land surveyor with the eventual goal of owning his own surveying firm.
