An outdoor classroom
To truly understand the science of geology, you have to get out from behind your desk. Computers and microscopes are wonderful tools for studying rocks, but without context they only tell you half the story.
As a geology major at SFA, you’ll explore extinct volcanoes, dinosaur footprints, collapsed caves, mountains of granite and much more. You'll learn practical information about geologic hazards and discover why the Earth is so vulnerable to environmental damage. You’ll remember the interactions with your fellow students and the world around you long after the academics fade from memory.
