The Lumberjack experience
Sure, we think SFA is pretty great — but don’t take our word for it. Come experience the awesomeness for yourself.
Join our student Jack Walkers — or “J-Walkers” as we call them — on a guided tour of the campus. You’ll see academic buildings and residence halls, learn about some of SFA’s unique landmarks and traditions, and have the opportunity to meet with representatives from our admissions department.
You can expect your tour to take about 1.5 hours. We offer weekday and weekend tours, and we even have special tours for large groups.
Choose your tour
Planning a campus visit? Our J-Walkers can’t wait to show you around. First, you’ll need to decide which tour is right for you. Then, just contact us to schedule your tour!
Weekday tours give you the opportunity to see the campus in action and get a feel for day-to-day Lumberjack life. While you’re here, you can see one of our residence halls, check out our student organizations and speak with representatives from admissions and financial aid. You can even make an appointment to meet faculty members from a variety of academic departments.
Weekday tour groups meet in the Thomas J. Rusk Building, room 206. Tours are available daily starting at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Weekday tours are not available during campus holidays (except spring break) and Good Friday.
Can’t make it here during the week? No worries. Our J-Walkers offer guided tours most Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters.
Saturday tours are available at 10:30 a.m. and noon, and reservations are required. Saturday tours are not available during holidays, exams, commencement activities or special events such as Homecoming or Battle of the Piney Woods.
Large group tours
Want to arrange a tour for your school group or community program? Group tours are designed for up to 100 prospective Lumberjacks and are available most weekdays at 11 a.m. Each group tour includes a presentation by one of our admissions counselors that will give your students a closer look at SFA admissions, campus life and extracurricular activities.
Large group tours need to be scheduled at least three weeks in advance. Saturday large group tours are available on a limited basis.
Showcase Saturday is designed for individuals or small family groups. This “open house” event happens three times per academic year and gives prospective Lumberjacks an in-depth look at SFA. Meet with instructors and department representatives to learn more about available majors and areas of study, or tour a few of SFA’s residence halls. You can also speak with representatives from admissions and financial aid.
