AELI Admission Requirements

All students who wish to be admitted to the American English Language Institute must have a high school diploma or its equivalent. A completed application for admission to the AELI must include:

    The Application includes a Certification of Finances statement, which is required for a visa.
  2. A diploma or certificate from high school or highest level of education
  3. $40 nonrefundable application fee. (US check, international bank draft, or money order made payable to "American English Language Institute")
  4. TOEFL score report (minimum recommended) or IELTS (4.0 minimum).

Students are encouraged to complete the application form as soon as possible since the number of places are limited. Successful applicants will be sent a letter of acceptance and a Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 form) by express mail. The I-20 form is required in order to apply for a visa at the nearest US consulate.

Successful applicants will be required to confirm their acceptance of admission and to send a $100 deposit (for admission and housing). The deposit is not refundable. We will not be able to reserve places for students who do not submit the required deposit.

University Admission
Students who successfully complete the program of study at the American Language Institute will be granted admission into the regular undergraduate or graduate programs at Stephen F Austin State University. They will not need to submit additional TOEFL scores.
