In our department, we provide an intellectually stimulating academic program that aids you in learning career skills like reasoning, communication and problem-solving. Here, you’ll find the type of academic experience that will not only prepare you for graduate studies or an interesting career – it will enable you to be a better citizen of the global community.

A message from the department chair, Dr. Ray Darville

Welcome to the Department of Anthropology, Geography and Sociology. Our multidisciplinary faculty and staff strive to provide transformative educational experiences for students interested in pursuing careers in our social sciences. Our department's priorities are introducing students to the core knowledge of our disciplines, helping students to acquire skills for the 21st century, engaging our students in field-based learning, as well as leading them to explore careers, lifelong learning and civic engagement. We offer majors in geography, sociology with an anthropology emphasis, and a major in sustainable community development. Our students graduate with the knowledge and ability to enter a rich variety of careers, and we tailor our curriculum to meet student interests and career goals.
