Getting involved

At SFA, you will do more than sit in a classroom. In addition to opportunities to participate in research-active laboratories with our highly qualified professors, you can join clubs and organizations that offer unique avenues to learn, network and have fun with other Lumberjacks who share your interest in biology.

Whether you are interested in plants, pre-health fields or career preparation, you’ll find a club where you feel right at home. For more information about the clubs and organizations available through the Department of Biology, you can contact your faculty advisor to find the best fit for your interests.

Clubs

Participate in a variety of community service activities, explore career paths and participate in fun events.

  • Biology Club
  • Botany Interest Group (B.I.G.)

Organizations

If you’ve got your sights set on med school or a career in dentistry, consider joining the SFA chapter of a nationally recognized student organization that can help you prepare for the next step in your academic journey:

Honor Societies

SFA’s two health- and biology-focused honor societies give career-minded Lumberjacks access to networking, professional development, service projects and scholarship opportunities.
