Backpacking the Big Thicket

Looking for a weekend to get away from town and immerse yourself in nature? Come backpacking with Outdoor Pursuits as we explore the extensive swamps and forests of Big Thicket National Preserve. Located just south of Nacogdoches, Big Thicket is in an area where the Pineywoods converges with the swamps of the coast, forming a very unique region of rich biodiversity. In the backcountry of Big Thicket we will walk among the towering cypress trees and pitcher plants.

Already know the basics to climbing? Looking for some personal skills development? This clinic will teach some of the specific techniques related to bouldering and top roping that will allow you to practice and develop your climbing skills and take you to that next level. Along with practice, this course will help you to master the crux on that route you have been trying to complete.

Spring Break at Big Bend National Park

What are you doing this Spring Break? How about the adventure of a lifetime! This is a week-long excursion to one of the most extraordinary parks in Texas: Big Bend National Park. We'll hike up Emory Peak and eat lunch above the clouds, then canoe our way through Boquillas Canyon all while admiring the beautiful backdrop of the American Southwest.

Easter Break: Climbing the Wichita Mountains

This is the event you have been waiting for! It is your chance to come out to our awesome challenge course and put your skills to the test and enjoy a challenge. Up in the air on our elements or zooming down the zip line, all you need to do is wear closed toed shoes and bring your student I.D. This free event is a great way to get outdoors and enjoy a little personal challenge. Show up at the challenge course with your student I.D. We are located on University Drive across from the commuter parking lot.
