Group Exercise

The Group Exercise Program offers a variety of classes that range in intensity and complexity. Each of the many classes offered are free for SFA students, members and guests. All classes are located at the Student Recreation Center and require an active SFA identification card. To enter into a class, one must pick up a Jax Pass at the welcome desk of the Student Recreation Center. Passes are distributed one half hour before the class begins.

Class space is limited to 30 for most classes, 9 for cycling classes.

Classes will begin the first week of each semester and extend through exam week. (Including Summer I and Summer II Academic Sessions) There will be two schedules per semester to offer a variety of class times to our patrons.

All Stephen F. Austin State University Campus Recreation Group Fitness Instructors are CPR/AED certified, and manyhold a nationally recognized group fitness certification or are in the process of obtaining their certification. Instructors have previous group fitness leadership experience prior to hiring, or have completed the Campus Recreation New Hire Instructor Training Program before instruction.

Group Exercise Policies

All participants who wish to enter into a class must wear appropriate workout attire with non-marking soled athletic shoes. Facility policies regarding food, drink, attire and behavior also apply within the group exercise classes. No one will be admitted into a class after 5 mintues of the schedule class start time. This is to ensure the safety and to avoid disruption of the class. One may bring his or her own equipment to the appropriate class, however proper equipment will be provided.
