Frequently Asked Questions

Can guests come and watch me climb and can they take pictures?
Yes. There will be special seating for any guests that want to watch the competition and they are welcome to take pictures.

Do we have to belay for one another or does the SFASU climbing wall staff belay for us?
Because we want our judges to be fully focused on your climbs, we ask that you belay for one another. After you check in we will ask you to demonstrate belay for our staff. The SFASU climbing wall only allows the bus and modified bus method of belay.

Can I bring my own food and drinks to the competition?
You may bring your own food and drinks. However, they can only be enjoyed at certain areas at the climbing wall. They may not be taken on the climbing wall floor or anywhere else in the recreation center.

What if I don't have my own pair of shoes and/or harness?
We can rent you a pair of our climbing shoes and/or harness for no extra charge. We do ask that you provide some form of id as collateral when checking out any of our equipment.

Is anyone eligible to win door prizes?
Yes if you are a registered participant. At registration you will be given a ticket along with a competition t-shirt and goodie bag. Hold on to your ticket and at the awards ceremony you will have the opportunity to win a prize even if you didn't place in the competition. You must be present at the awards ceremony to receive a prize.
