NEW: “Take a friend” Program! SFASU Outdoor Pursuits trips will now be open to guests sponsored by an active Campus Recreation member. Outdoor Pursuits is determined to give students the chance to experience the outdoors and learn the skills they need to enjoy being outside. The OP Trip program has been designed with you, the student, in mind. We have planned exciting adventures to various places, all at affordable prices. Transportation, equipment and meals are included in the trip cost. There is something for everyone in our wide range of activities which includes; hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, mountain biking and more. Check out our wonderful selection of trips. Outdoor Pursuits Trips
Sailing in Galveston Bay – September 18th-20th
Price: $125
Registration Deadline: Sep. 9th
• Would you care to learn the skills necessary to sail a vessel? We have just the experience for you! Join us for a day of sailing in some 30-40 foot J-Class Sailboats on Galveston Bay. We will be actively working the boat, from trimmer to helm positions. The following day has us exploring Kemah Boardwalk “post Hurricane Ike.”
Rock Climbing and Cliff Jumping at E-Rock – October 2nd-4th

• Let’s head to the hill country while it’s still warm and do some cliff jumping at Inks Lake State Park! We will mix it up a bit with some great bouldering at a renown climbing mecca - Enchanted Rock State Park.
Mt. Biking at Tyler State Park – October 17th

Registration Deadline: Oct. 12th
• Tyler State Park is renowned in the biking community for amazing mountain bike trails. It offers three levels of trails, starting with a warm up trail, all the way up to insane. Test your skills with the OP crew or just enjoy the scenery and you can even use our bikes! Lunch included.
Full Moon Float on Lake Nacogdoches - November 7th

• Come out to the lake for a relaxing evening. We will enjoy some grilled food and play in our “glow sticked” canoes for the evening, returning only after enjoying the moon rise over the lake.
Backpacking in the Hill Country – November 26th-29nd

• Picture it: the deep red and the warm yellow leaves of fall as the colors begin to take over the Hills Country State Natural Area. We will enjoy our colorful surroundings as we hit the rocky trails for a three night backpacking trip. Carry everything you need to survive on your back and get off the grid for a while!
Skiing in New Mexico - January 4th-10th

• Travel across the western border to check out a different boarder….a snow boarder that is! Come play with us at Sipapu Ski Area, a 9000’ winter wonderland in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains. With over 40 trails you’ll be sure to get your fill of terrain. With three days of skiing and two days of “snowball fight – sledding – snowman building – hot spring” type of days, how better could you ring in the new year? Join us!
