Judy A. Abbott, Ph.D.

Dr. Judy A. Abbott was named dean and professor of the James I. Perkins College of Education at Stephen F. Austin State University and joined the faculty August 1, 2010. Abbott earned degrees from the University of Oklahoma (B.S. and M.S.) and from the University of Texas at Austin (Ph.D.).

As dean of the Perkins College of Education, Dr. Abbott is responsible for SFA's largest college with an enrollment of approximately 4,200 students (about 1/3 of the total SFA enrollment) and with about 100 full-time faculty and about 75 part-time faculty. But she does not limit her work to leading the college; she also is involved within the community. She has served on the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and is continuing her leadership as the chair of the Chamber's Education Committee. As chair, she coordinates the Leaders of Tomorrow initiative (LOT Crew)-a 9-month leadership program for grade eight students selected from both the city and the county middle schools. Additionally, Dr. Abbott serves on the board of directors for the Friends of Historic Nacogdoches, Inc., and is involved in promoting the city of Nacogdoches as an important Texas treasure.

Dr. Brandon Fox has earned degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University (B.S. Kinesiology and M.Ed. Secondary Education), Texas A&M Commerce (M.Ed. Early Childhood Education) and Texas A&M University(Ph.D.). He taught math for several years at Nacogdoches ISD, as well as other school districts. He joined the early childhood faculty in the Department of Elementary Education at SFA in 2012 as an assistant professor and then continued as an associate professor in 2016. He became chair of the Department of Elementary Education in 2019.
Dannette Sales

Dannette Sales earned a BBA at SFASU and obtained a CPA license after spending four years in manufacturing. She became an independent auditor of mostly governmental entities after starting a public accounting firm. She decided after 11 years in a partnership, to work four years as a finance director of a public school and then was hired on by the Controller's office at SFASU in 2004.

I graduated from SFASU in December 2009. I began my career at SFA Charter School in January 2010. My husband, Johnny, is the head baseball coach at SFA. We have a son. We love being part of the Nacogdoches community as well as the SFA community. Every day I am so excited about the learning that takes place in my classroom. My ultimate goal is for my students to feel safe and comfortable in the learning environment that I have created.
Adam Akerson, Ed.D.

Dr. Adam Akerson is originally from North East Iowa. Upon earning a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa, he moved to Texas to begin a teaching career in San Antonio. After spending a number of years teaching primary grades, while earning a M.Ed. degree in Teacher Leadership, he went on to obtain an Ed.D. in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education from the University of Houston. In 2011, Dr. Akerson accepted a faculty position in the department of Elementary Education here at Stephen F. Austin State University. He currently serves as the Program Coordinator of EC-6 education and coordinates field experience opportunities for pre-service teachers at the SFA Charter School. Some of his research interests include: mentoring, teacher preparation, and mathematics education. Additionally, Dr. Akerson serves on a number of department, college, and university committees.
Javier Rubio

Mr. Javier Rubio earned a Bachelor in Business Administration degree and Master of Professional Accountancy degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in 2011 and 2015, respectively. Mr. Rubio began a career in community banking with Commercial Bank of Texas, N.A. in 2011, has served in a number of roles and is presently a commercial and mortgage lender with CBTx.
Mr. Rubio currently serves on the boards for Habitat for Humanity of Nacogdoches County and Nacogdoches Boys Youth Baseball Association. Mr. Rubio is the proud father of three children, one graduate of SFA Charter School and two currently enrolled in SFA Charter School.
