I received both my Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Education from Stephen F. Austin State University. My areas of specialization are Early Childhood Education and Early Childhood Special Education. I am also a certified gifted and talented teacher. My teaching career began in 1983 at Carpenter Elementary in Nacogdoches where I enjoyed teaching second grade for 6 years. In 1989, I transferred to the Brooks-Quinn-Jones campus where I learned and grew with pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students for the next 10 years. In 1999, I accepted the first grade position at the Charter School on the Stephen F. Austin State University campus. I enjoyed 10 years watching first graders bloom. In 2009, I was thrilled to move to third grade and teach there for two years. In 2011, I left the classroom to become a Reading Support and Intervention teacher. I now enjoy working with students of all ages to support them in their reading lives. I have also served as an instructor for the Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Elementary Education.
