Bio:

Dr. George L. Hunt has 15 years of experience in post-secondary education. Dr. Hunt has worked in the industry as a cost accountant, Controller, and Chief Financial Officer. He has also worked in government as an assistant state auditor for the State of Texas and as a municipal Finance Director. Dr. Hunt has been a practicing CPA for over 25 years. He has served as Historian for the American Accounting Association (Southwest Region) and as committee member for the Texas Society of CPAs. He has published 5 journal articles and 2 proceedings, and delivered more than 20 presentations and workshops at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels. He holds certifications as a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Management Accountant, and Certified Fraud Examiner.

Esther began teaching at SFASU in the fall of 2007. She brings much professional experience with her to SFASU. Prior to teaching she worked in public accounting and governmental accounting. Since joining SFASU she has become a certified online instructor and has developed three online classes. Esther is a certified public accountant and continues to work for a CPA firm during tax season as well as having her own small private tax business.

Dr. W. Rhea Clark is an Associate Professor of Accounting. He has been on the faculty at Stephen F. Austin State University since 1984. Prior to this he was at Louisiana Tech University and Southeastern Louisiana University. Dr. Clark was previously employed at Alexander-Grant CPAs, currently Grant-Thornton & Associates. He has also worked in an industry sub-contractor to the U.S. Navy.

Dr. Jack R. Ethridge is Director of the Masters in Accountancy Program in the Gerald W. Schlief School of Accountancy at SFASU. He is currently the senior faculty member in the School of Accountancy with over 37 years of experience in higher education. Prior to serving as Director of the MPAC, he was chair of the Department of Accounting at SFASU.

Bio:

Marie Kelly taught as a lecturer in the Accounting Department from 1987-1991. From 2006-2010, she was an adjunct faculty member before returning to the department full-time. She received her CPA license in 1984. Prior to joining SFA in 1987, she worked for five years in public accounting and private industry in Houston, Lufkin, and Nacogdoches. She is also Texas teacher certified in Mathematics and Business, and taught at Douglass ISD for 13 years, coaching students to advance to state UIL competitions in Accounting and Computer Information Systems. She is active in the Texas Society of CPA's and the East Texas Chapter of CPA's.

Bio:

Dr. Marsh, CPA, has 30 years of teaching experience. She served as Director of the Gerald W. Schlief School of Accountancy from 2002 to August 2012. Dr. Marsh is currently the Beta Alpha Psi chapter advocate for the southwest region and southwest regional representative for the Accountings Programs and Leadership Group. Prior to teaching, she worked as a controller for a car dealership and as a forestry accountant for a paper mill. She has published over 30 articles and presented more than 100 presentations at the local, state, regional, national, and international levels. She is active in the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants and the East Texas Chapter of CPAs having served on numerous committees and as a board member of both groups and a trustee of both Educational Foundations.

Kelly Noe is currently an Assistant Professor in the Rusche College of Business. She has worked in private industry, governmental and non-profit accounting. She holds the Treasurer position with for a State-Wide, University-Wide and local non-profit. Her research interests are in using Medicare Cost Reports as quality measures and investigating the behavior of Medicare Providers.

Dr. Violet C. Rogers has 25 years of experience in post-secondary education. She worked in public practice as an auditor/accountant for 6 years prior to that and advanced to management phases. She has been a CPA since 1983. Dr. Rogers served in administration at SFA for about 8 years. She has been President of the East Texas Chapter of CPA's and has served on the Board of Directors for that group and for the TSCPA. She has published numerous journal articles and received several research grants. She has delivered many professional presentations at the local, state, regional, national, and international level.

Bio:

Nikki Shoemaker joined SFA in August 2012. Her primary research is in the area of management control systems. Specifically, Dr. Shoemaker specializes in the joint influence of compensation and monitoring systems on employee behavior. Her primary teaching interest includes managerial accounting. Before coming to SFA, she taught at the University of North Texas and worked as the Risk and Compliance Auditor at SFA.

Bio:

Over 35 years ago, Dale Spradling came to Texas to work for the IRS. Later, he began working for a Big-8 accounting firm, started and sold a CPA firm, got his PhD from UH and taught at Cal State in Sacramento where he started a MS in Taxation program. He came back to Texas to join a production homebuilding company, jumped ship to start the DrTax Traveling Medicine and Snake Oil show that offered CPE and consulting in a wide range of areas and got back in the homebuilding business just in time to get out again before the market crashed. Since then, he has been teaching at Stephen F. Austin State University.
