What graduate courses are offered online?

Currently, only BCM 520 is offered online regularly.

What if I do not have an undergraduate degree in business?

No problem! Any undergraduate - i.e., bachelors - degree (or its foreign equivalent) is acceptable. Depending on your exact academic background, you may need to complete several "leveling" courses to obtain enough foundational knowledge in business to be able to succeed in our MBA.

What is the application process?

What are the requirements for admission?

To be admitted, an applicant must:

Prior management work experience is strongly recommended but not required.

How many students will be admitted to the MBA per semester?

There is no pre-set limit on the number of admittances in any given term.

What is the maximum number of students allowed in each course?

The graduate courses are capped at 30 students, but most classes typically have 20-25 students.

I don't live in Texas; can I still apply?

Yes, application is open to anyone.

What is required of international students?

In addition to the admission requirements that apply to all applicants, a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (paper test), 213 (computer-based test), or 80 (internet-based test) is required. For additional requirements (i.e., forms and documentation), please visit http://www.sfasu.edu/oip/85.asp.

What is the deadline for applications and when should I apply?

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

During which semesters are students admitted?

Students are admitted year round and can begin their program in the Fall, Spring or Summer term.

Is the GMAT required for the MBA?

Yes.

Can I give a GRE score instead of the GMAT?

No, the GMAT score is required.

How many hours are required to complete the MBA program?

The program consists of 36 hours (12 courses), 24 of which (8 courses) are required or core courses and 12 hours (4 courses) are electives.

How long will it take to complete the program?

The typical timeframe for a full-time student taking 9 hours in each semester (Fall and Spring) is two years (4 semesters.)

Is Financial Aid available to students admitted to the MBA?

A small number of graduate assistant positions are available to full-time (taking at least nine hours per semester) MBA students.

Are scholarships available?

Scholarships are very limited, with most being administered by the SFA Alumni Association; call (936) 468-3407 for more information.

What is the maximum number of hours per semester students are allowed to take, and how many hours should I take?

Nine hours of graduate coursework is considered a full load; it is not recommended to take more than 12 hours in any semester.

Is there a minimum number of hours required to be taken each semester?

No. Many students take as few as one or two courses per term.

Can I transfer in courses from another graduate institution to be used toward the MBA?

At most, six hours of coursework may be transferred in from an AACSB accredited school.

Is there a thesis requirement?

No.

Where can I find course descriptions and a schedule of courses offered?

Course descriptions are available on the Rusche College of Business webpage, http://cobweb.sfasu.edu/index.html. The course schedule is posted there as well, subject to change.

What are the grade requirements?

Students must maintain a 3.0 GPA while in the program and no more than two "C" grades are allowed in any of the graduate courses.

When are classes held?

All of the graduate classes are held in the evenings, Monday through Thursday. Typically, each class meets once per week at either 4:00 pm -6:30 pm or 6:45 pm -9:15 pm. Please see the General Business and Management graduate bulletins for more information.
