IRS tax benefits may be available for higher education expenses.
Note: The student's Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) is required in order for Stephen F. Austin State University to properly report educational expenses on the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form 1098-T. The TIN may be updated in person at the Registrar's Office. The TIN may also be updated by downloading and completing the IRS form W-9S and returning it to SFA Business Office by fax, mail, or in person.
The IRS Form 1098-T is issued to students with qualified tuition and fee expenses billed in the previous calendar year. It is available to view and print by January 31 of each year. The form is available in Self-Service Banner.
