STANDARDS
NCATE standards require that the institution offer a coherent program of studies that will prepare effective teachers.
Standard 1 - Knowledge, Skills, Disposition
Standard 3 - Field Experiences and Clinical Practice
Standard 5 - Faculty Qualifications, Performance and Development
Standard 6 - Governance and Resources
NCATE expects that the standards of specialized professional associations (e.g., National Council of Teachers of Mathematics) are used to develop the programs in each area, helping to ensure that candidates are well prepared in their content area and how to teach it. NCATE specifies standards for three different areas: Unit Standards, Program Standards with Report Forms, and Standards for Professional Development Schools.
