Faculty Instructor and Coordinator for Family and Child Development (FCD) Program
1. Reviewed and revised four selected courses in conjunction with other FCD faculty to meet ExCET criteria for Family and Consumer Sciences certification standards.
2. Revised selected Child Development/Family courses in collaboration with FCD faculty and Elementary Education faculty to meet new Early Childhood certification standards.
3. Reviewed and revised FCD program course offerings and core curriculum courses for the department.
4. Advised students for major and minor areas of study in Child and Family Development and Human Sciences.
5. Collaborated with the departments of Sociology and Rehabilitation Services to develop minor areas of study for students in the respective program areas of Child/Family Development, Gerontology, and Rehabilitative Services.
6. Collaborated with Early Childhood Lab instructors and other Family/Child Development faculty regarding meeting undergraduate students' programmatic needs.
Advisor to Family and Child Development Club (FCD)
1. Scheduled, arranged, and accompanied club members in attending the Annual Meeting of the North Texas Student Council on Family Relations (2004), Annual Conference of the Texas Council on Family Relations, Ft. Worth, Texas, April, 2000, 2002, 2003; Annual Conference on Parent Education, Denton, Texas, February, 2001, 2002, 2003, and Annual Conference of Texas Association for Education of Young Children, Galveston, Texas, October, 2001.
2. Assisted club officers in scheduling meetings, activities, soliciting guest speakers, and implementing community service projects.
3. Recruited and scheduled students to participate in Showcase Saturday beginning in November, 1999 to the present , and to lead departmental tours and Early Childhood Lab tours for visiting high school students in April, 2000.
4. Presented information regarding professional development opportunities and encouraged students to attend professional conferences and workshops.
5. Assisted club president in soliciting SORF (Student Organizations Resource Funds) funds for club activities and conference expenses. FCD club awarded funding for the academic years 1999-2000, 2000-2001, 2001-2002, and 2002-2003, and 2004-2005.
Full Graduate Faculty Member
1. Taught two graduate level courses: Studies in Child Development, and Family Studies on a rotating basis. Assisted students in methods of searching and evaluating research data, methodology, and results.
2. Reviewed and evaluated theoretical frameworks pertaining to child development and family relationships and interactions.
3. Reviewed written assignments and graded/critiqued research papers and oral presentations. Assisted students on an individual basis as needed, reviewed drafts of research papers, and assisted with referencing format in body of the paper and reference list.
4. Thesis advisor for 3 graduate students Master's level research project, (1992- 2000).
5. Coordinated efforts to design new brochure for graduate programs in the department, and coordinated efforts to redesign new brochures for the undergraduate program.
6. Participated in review of courses offered at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
