Welcome from the Dean
The James I. Perkins College of Education at SFASU is home to the Departments of Elementary Education, Human Sciences, Human Services, Kinesiology and Health Science, and Secondary Education and Educational Leadership. Our faculty and students excel in all areas of university life. Graduates are readily employed in professions that vary from education to health sciences, from interior design to communication disorders, from nutrition to rehabilitation services, and in other professions that provide equal opportunities for satisfying and rewarding careers.
As always our primary focus is on our students and their success; however, this year we are also focusing on recruitment and retention activities, preparing for re-accreditation, program enhancement, external funding, and improved student advising. We will be finalizing and implementing a new Perkins College of Education Strategic '08 plan that correlates with the SFA '08 plan, but adds features unique to our college and its programs.
Visitors are welcome to the Perkins College of Education! I invite you to explore our website and come see our programs, our students, and our faculty. With an early childhood laboratory, charter school, and a variety of research, instructional, and service centers, we annually serve thousands of individuals from infants to elderly. Email us, call us, or write to us with questions, concerns, or suggestions. We encourage you to learn more about Stephen F.
