How to Apply

Go to the SBEC website.  Create an SBEC Online Account if you do not already have one [click on "Online Services for Educators" at the top of the screen and then "Create an SBEC Online Account."], and log in.   If you have an established SBEC account, then use the "log in" screen. Complete an online application for the certificate.

How To Navigate the SBEC Website
  1. After you have logged in to your SBEC Online Account, click on "Applications" on the left side of the Educator Main Menu.
  2. Select "Standard Certificates." (Select for all types of certificates including classroom teacher, principal, counselor, educational diagnostician, etc.).
  3. A Master Teacher Application is selected only if you are applying for a Master Reading Teacher or a Master Math Teacher (EC-4 or 4-8) certificate.  It is not the appropriate application for Principal or Superintendent.
  4. Follow the instructions to apply for your certificate.

UNDERGRADUATES
  1. At least two certification exams (PPR and a Content ExCET or TExES)
  2. Student Teaching
  3. Bachelor’s degree conferred
POST BACCALAUREATE INITIAL CERTIFICATION (PBIC)
  1. All course work
  2. Field Experience (student teaching or one-year teaching internship)
  3. At least two certification exams (PPR and a Content ExCET or TExES)


OTHER SCHOOL PERSONNEL
  1. Appropriate TExES exam
  2. Graduation for Master's Degree (if appropriate for certificate)
  3. Official verification of teaching experience (Teacher Service Record [TSR])
