Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for up to $5,000 toward tuition and fees with CERT-Prep ELL you must meet the following requirements:
- Demonstrated ability in Math, Reading, and Writing (ACT, SAT, GRE, or TASP/THEA)
- Bachelor’s degree (equivalent degrees from universities in foreign countries may be eligible)
- Overall GPA of 2.5 or GPA of 2.75 in last 60 credit hours
- A minimum of 24 credit hours in an academic subject area (i.e. Math, Science, Spanish, English, History, Special Education, Music, Art)
- Qualify for graduate admission to Stephen F. Austin State University
- Certificate Plan developed by the certification officer and faculty advisor at SFA
Admissions Requirements
- Must be nominated by a partner school district
- Complete a program application and submit two letters of recommendation
- Submit a letter of application stating your interest in obtaining the CERT-Prep ELL Transition to Teaching grant, your goals in the field of education and your desire to work with English language learner students in one of the following areas:
- Early Childhood-Grade 12: Music, Art and Generic Special Education
- Grades 4-8: English/Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies
- Grades 8-12: English/Language Arts/Reading, Mathematics, Life Science, Physical Science, Spanish, Composite Social Studies, and History
