Student Teaching

Field experiences are an integral part of the education process for Stephen F. Austin State University teacher education students. During student teaching, SFA teacher candidates are assigned to school district placements for a minimum of twelve weeks, where they will gradually take control of the classroom during each placement, where they make the transition from student to teacher. Classroom mentor teachers and university mentors share the responsibility of assessing and evaluating the student teacher's ability to manage a classroom. Student teaching is completed during the final semester prior to graduation.
