Freshman Advising

There are many courses that you can take that will get you off to a good start. Fifteen to sixteen hours is a typical load. Few students do well taking the maximum hours in their first semesters of college, but some do thrive under such pressure. If you are required to take any 098 or 099 classes, it is probably best for you to select a schedule of under fifteen hours.

Consider taking SFA 101. This class will really help you to develop as a successful student during your college career.

Consider taking ELE 121. This is an elective about what is involved in being a teacher.  It can help you decide if you want to be a teacher.

There are three math classes required to become a teacher: MTH 127 in the core, and MTH 128 and a college level MTH course approved by advisor in the content area.

When you think you have your classes all lined up, write them out on paper and bring this to one of the advising sessions.
