Mandatory Campus Visit

Candidates admitted to the Master Reading Teacher (MRT) and/or Reading Specialist certification programs are required to be on the SFA campus on three (3) occasions. 

In summer semester II, candidates in the Master Reading Teacher (MRT) and Reading Specialist certification programs will be expected to take RDG 504.  During this course, candidates are required to take the MRT program capstone examination. This is not the state mandated exam for MRT.  It is a requirement of the department.  The program capstone will be offered on Friday, July 30, 2010 @ 10:00 AM.  This exam must be taken on the SFA campus in the Early Childhood Research Center.  The state secure exam cannot be sent to a proctor. Please make travel plans now to take this important exam.

In the spring semester, candidates in the Reading Specialist certification program will be expected to take RDG 534 Phase II.  This practicum is the last course in the reading sequence.  During this course, candidates are required to take the Reading Specialist program capstone examination. This is not the state mandated exam for Reading Specialist.  It is a requirement of the department.  The program capstone will be offered on Friday, May 7, 2010 @ 10:00 AM.  This exam must be taken on the SFA campus in the Early Childhood Research Center.  The state secure exam cannot be sent to a proctor. Please make travel plans now to take this important exam.

During the semester in which the candidate graduates, they must apply for and take the Graduate Comprehensive Examination.  Again, this must be taken on the SFA campus.  The date is to be announced.
