Reading Specialist Degree Comprehensive Examination Directions and Information
- The examination has an objective (multiple-choice) component and a constructed response component whereby candidates are required to respond to two literacy scenarios.
- You will be supplied a scantron on which to mark your answers to the objective component. Answers to the constructed responses must be computer generated. You will have access to a computer on which to take the exam.
- For the constructed responses, you must type the question (scenario) as it appears on the test and space down before you begin your response to the question.
- Your name should appear in the upper right hand corner of each response sheet and scantron.
- The constructed response component must be saved to a disk. You are responsible for bringing a formatted disk on which to save your test. This will not be returned to you.
- You are allowed to bring a dictionary, pen or pencil, and 3 blank sheets of paper.
- You must print a hardcopy of the constructed response component upon completion, and submit it to the administrator of the exam.
- At the end of the testing time, you must submit to the administrator; the scantron, hardcopy of the constructed responses, disk, all sheets of paper, and your copy of the comprehensive test.
- You are allowed three hours to complete the exam.
- No food or drink is allowed in the computer lab except water.
- Feel free to take a restroom break. Restrooms are located in the northeast corner of the 3rd floor.
- Please refrain from any discussion between and among other candidates taking the test or others who enter the testing room other than the administrator.
- The administrator will monitor the test but not be in the room the entire testing period. If you have a question or concern, please know that someone will enter the room frequently to check on testing candidates.
- For a passing score on the exam, you must address all components of each question. Responses must be thorough and focused on what is being asked.
- Since the exam must be routed to several evaluators, allow approximately three weeks for the results. You will be notified by email and/or letter.
