Steps for Registering for Courses on the Reading Specialist Degree Plan
What do I have to do before registering for courses?
- Apply for admission to graduate school.
- Complete the upper part of the Master of Education: Professional Reading Specialist degree plan [PDF] and email to Dr. Alexander for review and filing. Fax to 936 468-1701 or mail to Dr. Vi Alexander, SFASU, P.O. Box 13017, Nacogdoches, TX 75962.
- Complete and submit to Dr. Vi Alexander an Application for Admission to the Educator Program Additional/Advanced Certificate [PDF]. Fax to 936 468-1701 or mail to Dr. Vi Alexander, SFA Station, Box 13017, Nacogdoches, TX 75962.
- 4. For clear admission to graduate school, you must submit a minimum score of 750 on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) . If you have not taken the GRE or have not obtained the required score of 750, you will have provisionary admission under which you are permitted to take graduate courses for one semester only. You must present a GRE score of at least 750 by the end of the first semester to continue in the program.
- Submit an official copy of all transcripts to the Elementary Education office.
- Before registering for courses, contact Dr. Vi Alexander for advisement.
- Register for courses specific to your degree plan.
- There are at least 3 mandatory visits to the SFA campus required during the masters program.
- To take the capstone test in RDG 504.
- To take the capstone test in RDG 534 Phase II.
- To take the Graduate Comprehensive Exam.
