Our Office of Assessment assists undergraduate candidates seeking Elementary educator certifications through Stephen F. Austin State University.  After candidates are admitted to the Educator Certification Program and begin their internship experience this office works closely with each candidate to assess strengths and weaknesses, offer counseling and advising, and provide specific help preparing them for their required Texas certification exams. We also work closely with Post Baccalaureate (PBIC) candidates throughout their programs who are seeking Elementary Certification.  When all required department prerequisites for the TExES certification exams are met, staff helps with all registration procedures and plans appropriate faculty reviews for all populations.  All records of candidate testing are kept in this office and state exam data is used by Elementary faculty to change and improve courses to reflect problem areas.  Our office also works closely with partner public schools to help with guiding certified teachers who may chose to add a certification.
