Rotation Sites
The rotation sites reflect application experience in a variety of settings in order to achieve experience in clinical, food service, management, public health and community dietetics. Enrichment experiences are planned on an individual basis.
Current Rotation Sites/location and approximate number of experience hours:
Clinical (300 hours) 8 weeks hospital; 2 weeks dialysis
- Good Shepherd Medical Center, Longview
- Nacogdoches Medical Center, Nacogdoches
- Woodland Heights Medical Center, Lufkin
- Memorial Health System of East Texas, Lufkin
- Trinity Mother Frances Health System, Tyler
- University of Texas Health Center, Tyler
*Each intern will complete these rotations.
Management Rotation* (300 hrs) Food service, management and catering experience. ARAMARK SFA Dining; SFA Campus. Each intern will complete this rotation. Four weeks will be completed at ARAMARK and 4 weeks will be completed at either hospital and two weeks at school.
Public Health/Community Nutrition* (350 hrs) 4 weeks at TDSHS, 2 weeks at WIC, 2 weeks at HeadStart, 1 week at Burke Center(MHMR), and 2 weeks at Dialysis. Each intern will be assigned to one of the WIC clinics and all of the other sites for this rotation. WIC clinics: Nacogdoches, Palestine, Tyler or other. Other sites: Texas Department of Health, Tyler.
Total = + 950 hrs (for all rotations)
The Dietetic Internship at Stephen F. Austin State University is currently granted Developmental Accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education of the American Dietetic Association , 216 W. Jackson Blvd, Chicago, IL 60606-6995, 312/899-5400.
