Purpose:
The purpose is to stay central to the goals and objectives of all design organizations that promote the profession of Interior Design and Interior Merchandising.
Objectives:
- To promote further understanding of the profession through speakers, trips and other events
- To promote leadership, fellowship, cooperation and communication between professionals and students.
- To facilitate the preparation of students to assume responsibility as future Interior Design and Interior Merchandising professionals .
Membership Eligibility Requirements:
SFA interior design/ interior merchandising students may participate in the student organization events as a member as long as they hold current membership in an organization that promotes the profession of interior design. (i.e. ASID, IIDA, and beginning in fall 2011 IFHA). They must also pay a $20.00 alliance membership fee. The membership fee is effective from September 1 through August 31, and must be renewed every year, contingent on membership with a professional organization. Students are required to join the professional student chapter of ASID, IIDA online.

The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) student chapter at SFA offers students opportunities such as networking with professionals, involvement within the community, attending seminars, entering competitions and leadership roles.
