American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Student Chapter is for all students who have chosen interior design as a major or minor area of study. Club meetings are held each month primarily in the Human Sciences South building. Organizational activities include guest speakers, special events such as "Alumni Day" and "Spring Show," fundraising and community service projects, and networking with other students with similar academic and career interests.
Every spring, usually in March or April, ASID hosts a "Spring Show" comprised of student work from all courses. Interior design students, whether ASID members or not, are encouraged to submit their work for the show. Projects are divided into various categories based on project type and commonalities. Area professionals are invited to judge student work. From every category, First, Second and Third Place ribbons are awarded. Honorable Mention and Best of Show awards are given to the most outstanding projects of the entire "Spring Show." The "Spring Show" also offers a chance for students to invite family and friends to see their accomplishments.
A goal of the student chapter of ASID is to connect design students with professionals in the industry by inviting these individuals to speak at the monthly meetings. In the past the club has invited the President of the Texas Association of Interior Designers (TAID) to speak on licensing and ethics in the profession. Kathy Runnels, Distributor Sales for Walker Zanger, has provided students with knowledge of the tile industry. Students have hosted a reception in honor of Elizabeth Brawley, a well-known healthcare designer in the area of Alzheimer's Disease. These professionals are just a few of those that ASID students have had the opportunity to meet.

The Emerging Green Builders (EBC) Student Chapter
The Emerging Green Builders (EBC) Student Chapter is for all students, campus wide, who want to be involved in the green building movement. Club meetings are held each month primarily in the Human Sciences South building. The Chapter was initiated the fall semester of 2007. The plans for future organizational activities include guest speakers, special events, community service projects, fundraising, and networking with other students with similar academic and career interests.

to enhancing the quality of life through excellence in interior design

An association representing all the business and legislative aspects of the
interior design industry in Texas. Its mission is to promote the common
interests of the industry by effectively communicating concerns to government

Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC)
An organization founded in 1963 and dedicated to the advancement of education
and research in interior design. IDEC fosters exchange of information,
improvement of educational standards, and development of the body of knowledge

Foundation for Interior Design Education Research (FIDER)
A foundation leading the interior design profession to excellence by setting
standards and accrediting academic programs. FIDER is recognized as a reliable
authority on interior design education by the Council for Higher Education

Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE)
The Texas Board of Architectural Examiners serves the state as a licensing
agency for architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. The
mission of the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) is to protect
the public's life, health, safety, welfare, and property by seeking to
ensure that architects, landscape architects, and interior designers provide
quality professional services. By implementing effective programs of education,
licensing, and professional regulation, TBAE seeks to ensure the availability

National Council For Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ)
This council serves to identify to the public those interior designers who
have met the minimum standards for professional practice by passing the
NCIDQ examination. http://ncidq.org
