MISSION:
The Department of Human Services prepares undergraduates and graduate students
for leadership and service roles in East Texas and the global community.
The department is committed to incorporation of community-based, service-learning
experiences within its educational programs to maximize the advancement
of students personal and professional development.
OBJECTIVES:
Objectives of the department include (1) the preparation of special education
teachers for elementary and secondary schools, (2) the preparation of persons
for careers in rehabilitation, orientation and mobility, and related human
services, occupations serving persons with disabilities, speech language
pathology and school psychology.
MAJORS & MINORS:
Students may choose a major in rehabilitation services, orientation and mobility,
hearing impaired, speech language pathology or school and behavioral psychology.
Students interested in teaching generic special education or visual impairments
should speak to a department adviser regarding their options for a degree.
Students may minor in rehabilitation services, orientation and mobility,
hearing impaired, speech language pathology, special education or educational
interpreting.
