Dr. Linda Stark Bobo, PhD, ATC, LAT, CES; Program Director

Dr. Bobo admitted the first cohort into the Graduate Athletic Training program in 2003. Academically she completed her coursework at Northeast Louisian University (BS), Northwester State University (MEd), and the University of Southern Mississipi (PhD). Her professional actitives since being at SFA have involved: Serving as Chair of the Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Athletic Training Student Advisory Council and committee member; appointed to serve on the National Athletic Trainer’s Association Governance Task Force; participating as Site-Visitor for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education; member of the CAATE Review Committee; providing medical services with various USOC athletic teams, and attending various regional, national, and international conferences focusing on athletic training/education and pedagogy. Her research interests are in effective clinical instruction and the utilization of video feedback.

Sanford Miller

Sanford "Sandy" Miller, MS Ed, ATC, LAT; Instructor

Miller retired in 2012 after serving as SFA's Head Athletic Trainer for over 30 years. A native of Larned, Kan., Miller came to SFA in 1981 after spending five seasons as the head athletic trainer at Northwest Missouri State. Miller is a member of the board of directors of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA). He has served on the Athletic Training staff at the 1990 Goodwill Games and the U.S. Olympic Training Center, as well as serving as the Athletic Trainer for USA Track & Field at the World Championships in Sweden, in 1995. He also represents Texas and Arkansas as district director for the NATA. In 1999, Miller was honored as a Most Distinguished Athletic Trainer, one of 12 in the country, by the NATA. Miller is also a member of Southwest Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame. During the summer of 2002, Sandy received the highest honor of an Athletic Trainer, induction into the National Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame in Dallas. Sandy received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska in 1972 and his Master's degree from Northwest Missouri State. Miller and his wife Madalene are the parents of two sons, Justin and Doug, and grandparents of four wonderful girls.

Loree McCary

Loree M.C. McCary, MESS, ATC, LAT; Assistant Athletic Trainer

Loree has been on the SFA Athletic Training staff for 22 years. She is primarily responsible for the care and rehabilitation of female athletes, while assisting with all sports, and holds the title of Senior Women's Administrator. She is an active member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association. McCary came to SFA after serving as a Graduate Assistant at the University of Florida, where she served as the Athletic Trainer for volleyball. The Girard, Kansas native is a 1988 graduate of Kansas State, where she served three years as an athletic training student. She earned her Master's degree from University of Florida in 1990. She is married to Vance McCary.

Steve Condon

Steve Condon, ATC; Assistant Athletic Trainer

Steve will take the reigns with men's basketball in his first year at SFA. He comes to SFA after most recently spending six seasons with the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles after serving as the head athletic trainer of the Milwaukee Bucks from 2003-04. Prior to his tenure in Milwaukee, Condon served as the head athletic trainer at Marquette from 2001-02 and as the head basketball trainer and travel coordinator for Iowa State from 1999-2001. Condon worked for two conference title winners at Iowa State, while garnering one conference title and a Final Four appearance in 2003 with Marquette. From 1985-95, Condon served as the head basketball trainer at the University of Arizona with coach Lute Olson. During that time, Arizona captured seven Pac 10 conference titles and earned two trips to the Final Four (1988 and 1994). Condon also has experience with basketball athletic training with USA Basketball (1986, 1988 and 1991), the Los Angeles Summer Pro League (1992), the Desert Classic (1993-95) and four NBA Chicago pre-draft camps. He was the assistant football and head baseball rainer at the University of Iowa from 1981-85. Prior to that, he worked as the assistant football and head wrestling and baseball trainer at West Point from 1978-81. From 1995-99, Condon worked for the Athletico Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy in Chicago, Ill. A native of Iowa, City, Iowa, Condon graduated with a bachelor's degree in health education from Northwest Missouri State University and a master's degree in physical education from the University of Iowa. He is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
