What's Happening in the GATEP
GATEP Activities
2009 – 2010
- 3/3 Level IIs successfully passed the February BOC test date
- 3 Students have already accepted entry-level positions with the Houston Texans (2-year seasonal intern), Texas Rangers, and New York Mets.
- Received a Service-Learning Grant through Student Life ($500) enabling the Level II ATS to present “Sports Nutrition” to athletes at West Magnolia High School and visit Tomball High School and an area Orthopedic Clinic
- 5/5 Level IIs successfully passed the Texas State Licensing Exam in December
- Four of the Level II students completed summer internships with the following: New England Patriots; Houston Astros; Disney Wide World of Sports, and South Carolina Nike Soccer camp
- Added a new physical therapy and orthopedic clinical site
- Prepared for the re-accreditation site visit for the 2010-2011 academic year
- 6th cohort was admitted (n=7)
2008 - 2009
- All 7 of the graduating students employed in the settings of high school, clinical/outreach, or clinic/hospital setting
- 4/8 graduates hold the ATC title; 7/7 are TX LAT
- Level II students presented at the AAUW workshop that highlights math and science for 6th – 8th females, topic was “Rehabilitation”
- 6/6 Level II ATS successfully passed the Texas State Licensing Exam in December
- 5th cohort was admitted (n=8)
2007 – 2008
- All 8 of the graduating students employed in the settings of high school, clinic/outreach, or clinic/hospital setting
- 7/8 graduates hold the ATC title; all 8 are TX LAT
- Level II students presented at the AAUW workshop that highlights math and science for 6th – 8th females, topic was “Rehabilitation”
- Level II students presented to the 5th grade SFA Charter School, topic was “Injury Management and Prevention.”
- 4th cohort was admitted (n=7)
2006 – 2007
- All eight of the graduating students employed in the settings of junior high school, high school, university, and the Houston Texans
- 8/8 graduates hold the ATC title; all 8 are TX LAT
- Level II students presented at the AAUW workshop that highlights math and science for 6th – 8th females, topic was “Rehabilitation”
- Level II ATS attend “Hit the Hill Day” in Austin, TX to support athletic training
- 3/3 passed the Texas State Licensing Exam in December
- Level I ATS took field trip to “Body Worlds Exhibit” in Dallas, TX
- 3rd cohort was admitted (n=8)
2005 – 2006
- Level I ATS took field trip to “Body Worlds Exhibit” in Houston, TX and visited Spring High School
- 3/3 passed Texas State Licensing Exam in December
- 2nd cohort is admitted (n=8)
2004 – 2005
- All five of the graduating students employed in the settings of high school, clinic/outreach, junior, college, and Disney Wide World of Sports (internship)
- 2/5 graduates hold the ATC title; 4/4 hold the TX LAT title
- Level II students presented at the AAUW workshop that highlights math and science for 6th – 8th females, topic was “Rehabilitation.”
- 3/3 passed the Texas State Licensing Exam in December
2003 – 2004
- Chartered the Organization of Athletic Training Students
- First cohort was admitted (n=6)
