Dr. John Leonard, Ed.D.
John Leonard, Ed.D., is an associate professor at Stephen F. Austin State University. Prior to joining the SFA faculty, he was employed for 29 years as a public school teacher, assistant principal, high school principal, assistant superintendent, and superintendent of schools. Leonard earned a B.A. in music education from Southwest Texas State University, a M.S. in music education from the University of Illinois, and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas A&M University, College Station. Leonard teaches in the principal and superintendent preparation programs and the doctoral program. His primary areas of interest are organizational management, human resource management, and school-community relations. In 2005, he received the Teaching Excellence Award for the Department of Secondary Education and Educational Leadership.
