What is the East Texas GEAR UP Project?
The East Texas Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) partnership is a comprehensive and proactive program of services for student in middle and high school that is designed to strengthen a culture of high expectations to prepare students more fully for access and success in postsecondary education.

What are the goals?

Increase access to information for parents, students, educators and administrators regarding the benefits and accessibility of postsecondary education.
Raise awareness of financial aid opportunities to help support university and community college study.
Raise academic expectations ensuring that GEAR UP students receive the academic preparation, support, and guidance necessary to succeed in college and the workplace.
