Honors & Advanced Placement

Stephen F. Austin State University has specific policies concerning credit by examination. Please refer to pages 58-65 of the 2007-2008 undergraduate catalog for the University's guidelines in accepting such credit. For the 2007-2008 academic year, the University has specified test scores for college credit through the advanced placement program. Students should specify SFA's code 6682 to have official test scores sent to the SFA Office of Admission, who processes these credits for all SFA students.


For the minimum score 3 on the English Language/Composition AP exam, a student receives credit for ENG 131: Rhetoric & Composition, the first semester of freshman composition.

For a score of 4 or 5 on the English Language/Composition AP exam, a student receives credit for ENG 131: Rhetoric & Composition, the first semester of freshman composition, and ENG 132: Research & Argument, the second semester of freshman composition.

For the minimum score 3 on the English Literature/Composition AP exam, a student receives credit for ENG 131: Rhetoric & Composition, the first semester of freshman composition.

For a score of 4 or 5 on the English Literature/Composition AP exam, a student receives credit for ENG 131: Rhetoric & Composition, the first semester of freshman composition, and ENG 132: Research & Argument, the second semester of freshman composition.
